March Scrum Wrap Up / May Scrum Kick Off

We have reached the end of another scrum.  Congratulations to Brian Cortese on being the new scrum champion.  He defeated Brad Park in the final round to take home the crown.  Or the championship belt.  Or trophy.  We need to get one of those things for the current scrum champion to wear / take to all their games.  Scrum Overlord Mark Howard, we should make that happen. I ended up with a 4-2 record and landed in sixth place, due to strength of schedule tie breaks.  It turns out that having both your losses to the second and third place players helps your strength of schedule a bit.  Overall I am happy with how I played.  The Deneghra2 list was my main drop, and it turns out I should have dropped that even in the one game where I played Coven.  It's a very strong list and one that I am committing to for the next several months.  I have never truly committed to a list before and really attempted to master it, so this will be a bit o...

March Scrum 2018 - Round Six

Round Six:  Vs Rich Owens Scenario:  Outlast When I saw Rich's list pairing I thought I would see the Morghoul2 Disciples of Agony list.  Usually the possibility of seeing a wraith engine forces people into playing the list that has or can give our magic weapons.  As I looked at my lists, I once again felt that dark host was the correct play.  If he dropped Makeda and I played my Coven list, I knew I would be completely unable to handle all his beasts and armor.  To my surprise, Rich declared he was going to play is Madeka3 list.  I knew his only magic weapons were Makeda's unit and Zaadesh, so I felt good about getting decent work from the wraith engine.  Our lists are below. (Makeda 3) Makeda & the Exalted Court [+24] - Imperial Warhost  - Agonizer [0(6)]  - Archidon [10]  - Bronzeback Titan [18]  - Molik Karn [19]  - Titan Gladiator [15] Mortitheurge Willbreaker [4] Orin Midwinter, Rogue Inquisitor [5] ...

March Scrum 2018 - Round Five

Round Five:  vs Kat Royer Scenario:  Breakdown So, before we get started I am going to go ahead and say that I once again failed to take pictures.  However, this time it was on purpose!  This game was recorded by Forget Flashing Blade, a new battle report You Tube channel that is recording games from our scrum.  They have each player review their list choice and then narrate over the recording of the game.  The game is played at 4x speed, so if the game goes its max of 2 hours it's only 30 minutes to watch.  I think the format works really well, so please head on over and check it out.  Here is the link to the game that I played against Kat:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kN4ZCKizJU0&feature=youtu.be Coming into this round, I have not had much experience with Retribution.  In fact, my only game against them may have been round two of this scrum.  I hit up Conflict Chamber to see Kat's lists and really only looked at one ...

March 2018 Scrum - Round Four

Round Four:  Vs Mark Howard Scenario:  Recon Leading up to the game, I was certain he would drop Orion into me.  I debated back and forth about whether to play dark host or the satyxis.  In the end I choose dark host because I was concerned the kraken would get shot off the table after the coven's feat was done and my satyxis wouldn't be able to get the job done, especially against the conflux.  The one factor I did not consider was feedback.  For some reason, I was under the impression that feedback required a working cortex in order to damage the battlegroup controller.  After the game, I looked it up and it turns out that is not the case.  I still think I chose the correct list, but knowing that feedback is an option against Convergence is good knowledge to have. (Deneghra 2) Wraith Witch Deneghra [+28] - Dark Host  - Deathripper [6]  - Deathripper [6]  - Stalker [8]  - Stalker [8]  - Skarlock Thrall ...
